Narrative:
We were an air carrier jet aircraft and were cleared to taxi from the gate. Instruction were to taxi to runway 28 and hold short on taxiway J. At that time there were several other aircraft ahead of us, and the departing runway was runway 23R. We were on request for runway 23L due to the aircraft weight. As we were #2 for takeoff instructions were given by ground control to taxi onto runway 28 and hold short of runway 23L, and at that time I read the clearance back to ground control. At that time the captain called for the before takeoff checklist, and anticipating the need for a few extra moments to prepare the cockpit I started the checklist. My attention at that time was in the overhead panel going through the before takeoff flow and configuring the air-conditioning and pressurization panel for a no bleed's takeoff. As I looked up I noticed the captain had taxied onto runway 23L and I thought perhaps I had missed a radio call. Then the tower asked another air carrier to go around, and then followed further that we were instructed to hold short of runway 23L. I told the captain that is what we were instructed to do. At no time did the captain ask if we were cleared onto the runway, as he has indicated in preliminary reports filed. Yes I am new to the aircraft and the right seat after being a so for 7 yrs. The reason I am making this point is because my integrity is on the line and I feel the captain is crutching on this as an excuse. Always easy to blame the 'new guy.'

Title: AN ACR FLC CROSSES RWY 23L WITHOUT AUTH CAUSING A GAR. FO ADMITS TO BEING DISTRACTED BY CHKLIST AND OTHER DUTIES, BUT SAYS THE HE TOLD THE CAPT TO HOLD SHORT. MLG.
Narrative: WE WERE AN ACR JET ACFT AND WERE CLRED TO TAXI FROM THE GATE. INSTRUCTION WERE TO TAXI TO RWY 28 AND HOLD SHORT ON TXWY J. AT THAT TIME THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER ACFT AHEAD OF US, AND THE DEPARTING RWY WAS RWY 23R. WE WERE ON REQUEST FOR RWY 23L DUE TO THE ACFT WT. AS WE WERE #2 FOR TKOF INSTRUCTIONS WERE GIVEN BY GND CTL TO TAXI ONTO RWY 28 AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 23L, AND AT THAT TIME I READ THE CLRNC BACK TO GND CTL. AT THAT TIME THE CAPT CALLED FOR THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST, AND ANTICIPATING THE NEED FOR A FEW EXTRA MOMENTS TO PREPARE THE COCKPIT I STARTED THE CHKLIST. MY ATTN AT THAT TIME WAS IN THE OVERHEAD PANEL GOING THROUGH THE BEFORE TKOF FLOW AND CONFIGURING THE AIR-CONDITIONING AND PRESSURIZATION PANEL FOR A NO BLEED'S TKOF. AS I LOOKED UP I NOTICED THE CAPT HAD TAXIED ONTO RWY 23L AND I THOUGHT PERHAPS I HAD MISSED A RADIO CALL. THEN THE TWR ASKED ANOTHER ACR TO GAR, AND THEN FOLLOWED FURTHER THAT WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 23L. I TOLD THE CAPT THAT IS WHAT WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO DO. AT NO TIME DID THE CAPT ASK IF WE WERE CLRED ONTO THE RWY, AS HE HAS INDICATED IN PRELIMINARY RPTS FILED. YES I AM NEW TO THE ACFT AND THE R SEAT AFTER BEING A SO FOR 7 YRS. THE REASON I AM MAKING THIS POINT IS BECAUSE MY INTEGRITY IS ON THE LINE AND I FEEL THE CAPT IS CRUTCHING ON THIS AS AN EXCUSE. ALWAYS EASY TO BLAME THE 'NEW GUY.'
