Narrative:
Due to a maintenance procedure performed in error, flight crew was unable to xfeed fuel to the #1 engine. This caused an out-of-balance fuel tank confign. Executed a precautionary landing at xyz. Tank #1 xfeed valve found closed by xyz maintenance. Supplemental information from acn 357266: I inadvertently deferred the #1 fuel fill valve per the MEL procedures for the #1 xfeed valve. I was rushing to avoid a maintenance delay, not being completely familiar with MEL. I believe by getting a second opinion on the procedure will prevent any further occurrences of this nature.
