Takeoff runway 24L lax. Left engine bleed light illuminated on takeoff. Consulted flight manual for appropriate checklist. Could not restore bleed air. Consulted lax maintenance. They directed us to land overweight. Landing weight 227900 pounds, speed 144 KTS, sink rate at touchdown 100 FPM. Landing normal.
