Narrative:

My aircraft was cleared to taxi across runways 5R and 5L through the west ramp onto runway 9L and hold short of runway 23L. When my aircraft was crossing runway 23R a different controller's voice told us to hold short of runway 23R. This male voice said that was the original clearance. However, the first controller, female, never corrected my first officer when he read back hold short of runway 23L. After holding between runways 23L and 23R on 9L the first, female, controller continued to handle my flight. It would appear that there was confusion between the controllers. However, I did not personally listen to the ATIS. Had I did, I would have known that runway 23L was closed for plowing and I would have caught my first officer's error in the readback. It is too bad that airmen/controllers draw lines and close ranks during errors. I know I'll always personally listen to the ATIS from now on.
