Narrative:
Informed by ATC that I was flying route not previously cleared, ATC indicated necessity to turn other traffic. Error arose from misunderstanding with 2-MAN crew. PNF obtained IFR clearance prior to departure with PF not monitoring. Pretkof crew briefing did not cover specifics of transition from SID to cruise phase, where event occurred. Problem could be avoided by more thorough briefing between crew members prior to takeoff, including all navigation changes and flight plan details.

Title: GOV SMT FLEW THE WRONG RTE. CAPT NOT PRESENT WHEN THE CLRNC WAS OBTAINED AND UNAWARE OF RTE CHANGE.
Narrative: INFORMED BY ATC THAT I WAS FLYING RTE NOT PREVIOUSLY CLRED, ATC INDICATED NECESSITY TO TURN OTHER TFC. ERROR AROSE FROM MISUNDERSTANDING WITH 2-MAN CREW. PNF OBTAINED IFR CLRNC PRIOR TO DEP WITH PF NOT MONITORING. PRETKOF CREW BRIEFING DID NOT COVER SPECIFICS OF TRANSITION FROM SID TO CRUISE PHASE, WHERE EVENT OCCURRED. PROB COULD BE AVOIDED BY MORE THOROUGH BRIEFING BTWN CREW MEMBERS PRIOR TO TKOF, INCLUDING ALL NAV CHANGES AND FLT PLAN DETAILS.
