Narrative:

Due to a communication gap with our dispatch, and a misreading of our ATC IFR clearance, we deviated from our clearance. We thought we were to fly between bwg and arg, when in fact we were cleared bwg, J6, etc. I feel if there is a change in our release, a confirmation of the crew with the new change to the dispatcher may have prevented this error. Supplemental information from acn 359807: original flight plan had us cleared to arg. Revised clearance, reclred us to bwi, J6. Original clearance was still loaded in CDU and was not discovered until 6-8 mi off course. Controller said no conflicts or problems were created.
