Narrative:
FAA ramp check in hpn. Inspector found write-up in log which looked like open write-up. According to company maintenance personnel, the write-up was correct and legal to fly. Inspector said aircraft could go but that he would follow up on situation. Also, he did not like the speed tape that was used to hold plastic pieces of the cockpit together. He felt they could come loose and interfere with the yoke. The company says this is also an approved fix. Supplemental information from acn 360477: also found tape holding cockpit trim together unsatisfactory. We agreed. FAA suggested we write tape in logbook. Captain did not write it up, against my suggestions.
