Narrative:
In cruise at FL330 the captain had tuned the #2 VOR to crl VOR since it was on the mizar 2 arrival to dtw and in close proximity to the airport. The captain had the #1 VOR tuned to vhp. We departed vhp on the wrong radial instead of going direct to fwa VOR. The captain was new to the DC9 and had just spent 4 yrs on FMC equipped aircraft. The WX in dtw was marginal for 'high minimums' so I was getting the new ATIS at dtw and did not notice the turn was not executed.
