Narrative:

We were descending on the williamsport 1 arrival and were cleared to hold at penns intersection. I misread the DME for penns on the arrival and started the turn to enter the hold at hayed intersection. When we called to enter the hold, ATC advised we entered too early and gave a heading back to course. It was at that time I discovered my error. Conditions were clear. Hold was because of delays into ewr due to LLWS and high winds.

Title: HVT CARGOLINER WAS CLRED TO HOLD AT PENNS INTXN BUT BEGAN HOLDING AT HAYED INTXN BECAUSE FLC MISREAD THE DME FOR PENNS. ATC CORRECTED THEM.

Narrative: WE WERE DSNDING ON THE WILLIAMSPORT 1 ARR AND WERE CLRED TO HOLD AT PENNS INTXN. I MISREAD THE DME FOR PENNS ON THE ARR AND STARTED THE TURN TO ENTER THE HOLD AT HAYED INTXN. WHEN WE CALLED TO ENTER THE HOLD, ATC ADVISED WE ENTERED TOO EARLY AND GAVE A HDG BACK TO COURSE. IT WAS AT THAT TIME I DISCOVERED MY ERROR. CONDITIONS WERE CLR. HOLD WAS BECAUSE OF DELAYS INTO EWR DUE TO LLWS AND HIGH WINDS.
