Narrative:
Near top of climb, cabin attendant informed me of an 'unusual shake on takeoff.' nothing was noted in the cockpit. After getting established in cruise and on track I sent the flight engineer down to talk to the other cabin attendants. The consensus was that there was a vibration in the left gear area. I requested hnl to check the runway for tire debris. 30 mins later informed me they found tire debris on the takeoff runway. I then requested if they could determine from the debris the number of tires and extent of damage. Some time later they informed me that they only found tread from one main tire on the left side of runway. By this time we were approaching the equal time point. After consulting with the dispatcher and informing maintenance I made the decision to continue to st louis, allowing time for dispatch and maintenance to prepare. I considered this option safer than returning to hnl, more than 2 hours, and dumping 100000 pounds of fuel and landing at night. St louis would offer good WX, a day landing, normal landing weight, our maintenance and time to prepare. A normal landing was made at stl, the aircraft was stopped on the runway, inspected by the emergency equipment and maintenance for damage and then taxied to the gate. #4 body gear tire had shed its tread.

Title: ACR WDB NEARING CRUISE ALT, CABIN ATTENDANT ADVISED STRANGE VIBRATION ON L SIDE OF ACFT ON TKOF. CAPT HAD RWY CHKED FOR TIRE DEBRIS. ADVISED DEBRIS FOUND ON RWY AND AFTER DISCUSSION WITH DISPATCH ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO STL. FOUND TREAD MISSING ON #4 MAIN BODY GEAR.
