Narrative:
I was repositioning my C140 from one side of the field to the other. After being cleared to taxi to the northeast t-hangars from the northwest t-hangars. I was proceeding down taxiway C when I heard ground tell another aircraft to 'follow the cessna ahead and to your left.' in other words follow me. As I was then about to merge into taxiway a, suddenly from my right rear I saw a C182 closing at a high rate of speed, on a collision course, seconds away, with the right rear of my aircraft. I had to execute an immediate emergency stop to avoid being struck from the right rear. As a result of the forced, emergency stop the tail of the aircraft came up off the ground and with the approximately 10-12 KT tailwind, the tail continued on up and the aircraft came to a rest on its nose. The aircraft suffered damage to the propeller, a dent to the cowl nose bowl, and possible engine damage. The C182 proceeded past me and never even attempted to stop, contrary to ATC instructions.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF A C140 WAS REPOSITIONING THE ACFT ON THE ARPT WHEN ANOTHER ACFT CONVERGING FROM BEHIND, AND TO THE R, APPEARED ON A COLLISION COURSE RESULTING IN RPTR STOPPING TOO FAST AND UP ENDING HIS TAILWHEEL ACFT ON ITS NOSE. THE ACFT PROP AND NOSE COWLING RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE.
Narrative: I WAS REPOSITIONING MY C140 FROM ONE SIDE OF THE FIELD TO THE OTHER. AFTER BEING CLRED TO TAXI TO THE NE T-HANGARS FROM THE NW T-HANGARS. I WAS PROCEEDING DOWN TXWY C WHEN I HEARD GND TELL ANOTHER ACFT TO 'FOLLOW THE CESSNA AHEAD AND TO YOUR L.' IN OTHER WORDS FOLLOW ME. AS I WAS THEN ABOUT TO MERGE INTO TXWY A, SUDDENLY FROM MY R REAR I SAW A C182 CLOSING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPD, ON A COLLISION COURSE, SECONDS AWAY, WITH THE R REAR OF MY ACFT. I HAD TO EXECUTE AN IMMEDIATE EMER STOP TO AVOID BEING STRUCK FROM THE R REAR. AS A RESULT OF THE FORCED, EMER STOP THE TAIL OF THE ACFT CAME UP OFF THE GND AND WITH THE APPROX 10-12 KT TAILWIND, THE TAIL CONTINUED ON UP AND THE ACFT CAME TO A REST ON ITS NOSE. THE ACFT SUFFERED DAMAGE TO THE PROP, A DENT TO THE COWL NOSE BOWL, AND POSSIBLE ENG DAMAGE. THE C182 PROCEEDED PAST ME AND NEVER EVEN ATTEMPTED TO STOP, CONTRARY TO ATC INSTRUCTIONS.
