Narrative:
After having new brake lining installed, I received permission for a high speed taxi on runway 24 for the break- in. On the second sequence (accelerate/brake) the left wheel locked and the tire blew, thus disabling the aircraft and closing runway 24 for about 1 hour. I think it is important to note that only the left side locked, and a routine post maintenance test/break-in could have easily turned into an off runway excursion.
