Narrative:
The control tower frequency at aex has been having radio problems for weeks. The local controller frequency is very weak, very scratchy. This problem has been reported many times by multiple aircraft. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the primary and back up equipment for the local controller frequency was taken OTS 4 days ago and that a VHF multi radio is in use. Reporter said they are not getting assistance with the problem and that the airport authority/authorized is responsible for the equipment. Reporter indicated they (the tower) report the outage on the daily watch checklist which is sent to the airport authority/authorized. Reporter alleges the radio maintenance person is incompetent and cannot repair the equipment.
