Narrative:
WX was excellent VFR (approximately 3500 ft scattered, 10+ mi visibility) and ILS runway 4 was in use at lga. ILS runway 4 hold line was in effect and on ATIS. I copied down 'B4 hold line' which is runway hold line. We were holding short in the ILS critical area for the runway and tower brought it to our attention. Granted, the instructions were to hold short of the critical area and this was stated on the ATIS, but the WX was well above 800 ft 2 mi. If I had copied it down correctly. We would gladly have held short of the ILS critical area. However, I will say that given the excellent VFR conditions of this day, I have no idea why an ILS critical area would be in effect in the first place.

Title: BE1900D TAXIED BEYOND THE ILS CRITICAL AREA HOLD LINE EVEN THOUGH THE ATIS SAID THE CRITICAL AREA WAS TO BE KEPT CLR.
Narrative: WX WAS EXCELLENT VFR (APPROX 3500 FT SCATTERED, 10+ MI VISIBILITY) AND ILS RWY 4 WAS IN USE AT LGA. ILS RWY 4 HOLD LINE WAS IN EFFECT AND ON ATIS. I COPIED DOWN 'B4 HOLD LINE' WHICH IS RWY HOLD LINE. WE WERE HOLDING SHORT IN THE ILS CRITICAL AREA FOR THE RWY AND TWR BROUGHT IT TO OUR ATTN.
