Narrative:
Departing las runway 25L with a planned V1 of 170 KTS, first officer's leg and after power was set for takeoff, I assumed control of throttles and guarded yoke. At approximately 155 KTS, heard loud explosion, aircraft pulled to left, and I immediately aborted the takeoff, coming to a stop at the 3000 ft remaining marker (14500 ft runway length). After explosion, aircraft tilted or listed about 10-15 degrees to left indicating to me both left truck tires had blown. Followed rejected takeoff checklist, shut down both engines and determined emergency evacuate/evacuation was not necessary. Deplaned passenger through aft airstairs after crash/rescue crew determined no problem with doing so. Supplemental information from acn 365171: contributing factor: possibly takeoff speed too close to maximum tire speed.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN MLG ABORTED TKOF AFTER THE 2 L MAIN WHEEL TIRES BLEW OUT PRIOR TO V1. THE PAX WERE EVACED THROUGH REAR DOOR AFTER THE FIRE AND RESCUE STOOD BY AND OBSERVED NO FIRE OR OTHER PROBS.
Narrative: DEPARTING LAS RWY 25L WITH A PLANNED V1 OF 170 KTS, FO'S LEG AND AFTER PWR WAS SET FOR TKOF, I ASSUMED CTL OF THROTTLES AND GUARDED YOKE. AT APPROX 155 KTS, HEARD LOUD EXPLOSION, ACFT PULLED TO L, AND I IMMEDIATELY ABORTED THE TKOF, COMING TO A STOP AT THE 3000 FT REMAINING MARKER (14500 FT RWY LENGTH). AFTER EXPLOSION, ACFT TILTED OR LISTED ABOUT 10-15 DEGS TO L INDICATING TO ME BOTH L TRUCK TIRES HAD BLOWN. FOLLOWED REJECTED TKOF CHKLIST, SHUT DOWN BOTH ENGS AND DETERMINED EMER EVAC WAS NOT NECESSARY. DEPLANED PAX THROUGH AFT AIRSTAIRS AFTER CRASH/RESCUE CREW DETERMINED NO PROB WITH DOING SO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 365171: CONTRIBUTING FACTOR: POSSIBLY TKOF SPD TOO CLOSE TO MAX TIRE SPD.
