Narrative:
I was captain on flight from ont to phx. Prior to pushback, a company ramp supervisor informed me that the lavatory service cart had been moved with the filler hose still connected to the airplane. I was told that the fill port was not leaking and was still serviceable. The nipple on the service port however, had been bent. We flew to phoenix where company maintenance personnel discovered that the filler port did indeed require repair. In retrospect, I probably should have requested maintenance to examine the aircraft prior to departure. I feel a break-away fitting installed on the service hose would have prevented any damage.
