Narrative:
Main gear failed to extend due to failure of pressed cable fitting (swedge). Design called for single fitting, should have been double. Landed aircraft on grass. Minor damage only to fuselage. No injuries. No other person except pilot on board. Remedy: all cables will be replaced and all fittings will be doubled.

Title: THE PLT OF A BD5 HAD TO LAND GEAR UP IN THE GRASS WHEN A CABLE FITTING FAILED. HE HAS NOW INSTALLED DOUBLE RETAINERS ON THE CABLE.
Narrative: MAIN GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND DUE TO FAILURE OF PRESSED CABLE FITTING (SWEDGE). DESIGN CALLED FOR SINGLE FITTING, SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOUBLE. LANDED ACFT ON GRASS. MINOR DAMAGE ONLY TO FUSELAGE. NO INJURIES. NO OTHER PERSON EXCEPT PLT ON BOARD. REMEDY: ALL CABLES WILL BE REPLACED AND ALL FITTINGS WILL BE DOUBLED.
