Narrative:
I was assigned the job of fixing a ram air door actuator on a B727-200 in our fleet. I removed the necessary access panel, and partially removed the actuator to gain access to the cannon plug on the installed unit. I did not remove the unit completely, nor did I affect the rig on the cables attached to the ram air door themselves. I connected the replacement unit to the cannon plug of the aircraft system and tested the new actuator (commonly referred to frogging or piggy-backing the new unit). The new unit did not work, so I followed necessary procedures to make the unit 'bad from stock.' my error occurred when I inadvertently signed off the log page follow-up as removed and replaced the actuator, when in fact I had not fully removed the actuator nor had I replaced it with a new actuator, which would involve rigging the new unit with the cables to the door. My error, which I understand is falsifying a maintenance record, was to not completely and accurately describe the work which I had actually performed.

Title: A B727-200 WAS DISPATCHED WITH A LOGBOOK SIGNOFF FOR WORK THAT WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED.
Narrative: I WAS ASSIGNED THE JOB OF FIXING A RAM AIR DOOR ACTUATOR ON A B727-200 IN OUR FLEET. I CONNECTED THE REPLACEMENT UNIT TO THE CANNON PLUG OF THE ACFT SYS AND TESTED THE NEW ACTUATOR (COMMONLY REFERRED TO FROGGING OR PIGGY-BACKING THE NEW UNIT). THE NEW UNIT DID NOT WORK, SO I FOLLOWED NECESSARY PROCS TO MAKE THE UNIT 'BAD FROM STOCK.' MY ERROR OCCURRED WHEN I INADVERTENTLY SIGNED OFF THE LOG PAGE FOLLOW-UP AS REMOVED AND REPLACED THE ACTUATOR, WHEN IN FACT I HAD NOT FULLY REMOVED THE ACTUATOR NOR HAD I REPLACED IT WITH A NEW ACTUATOR, WHICH WOULD INVOLVE RIGGING THE NEW UNIT WITH THE CABLES TO THE DOOR. MY ERROR, WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS FALSIFYING A MAINT RECORD, WAS TO NOT COMPLETELY AND ACCURATELY DESCRIBE THE WORK WHICH I HAD ACTUALLY PERFORMED.
