Narrative:
Approached dvt from north, VFR flight following from phx approach, below phx class B airspace. Phx approach advised numerous poor radio xmissions from own aircraft. First solo flight into dvt. One previous flight from other direction. Phx approach vectors towards dvt deviating from own planned course along I-17. Phx advised dvt, released from phx frequency about 9 NM out. Busy frequency, unable to listen to dvt ATIS. Requested dvt runway information 2 plus times, dvt acknowledged but no information (dvt class D). Arrived over departing end of runway above pattern altitude, then directed to fly left downwind for runway 25L, cleared #3 to land. #2 was slow on approach, distance lessened, #3 announced going around, then cleared to land runway 25R. Recommend: always advise ATC if new to airport. Ensure radio problems understood, go around early.

Title: SMA ACFT, PLT CLRED TO LAND #3, BUT DUE TO BEING TOO HIGH AND CLOSING ON #2 ACFT ON APCH, RPTR EXECUTED A GAR.
Narrative: APCHED DVT FROM N, VFR FLT FOLLOWING FROM PHX APCH, BELOW PHX CLASS B AIRSPACE. PHX APCH ADVISED NUMEROUS POOR RADIO XMISSIONS FROM OWN ACFT. FIRST SOLO FLT INTO DVT. ONE PREVIOUS FLT FROM OTHER DIRECTION. PHX APCH VECTORS TOWARDS DVT DEVIATING FROM OWN PLANNED COURSE ALONG I-17. PHX ADVISED DVT, RELEASED FROM PHX FREQ ABOUT 9 NM OUT. BUSY FREQ, UNABLE TO LISTEN TO DVT ATIS. REQUESTED DVT RWY INFO 2 PLUS TIMES, DVT ACKNOWLEDGED BUT NO INFO (DVT CLASS D). ARRIVED OVER DEPARTING END OF RWY ABOVE PATTERN ALT, THEN DIRECTED TO FLY L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 25L, CLRED #3 TO LAND. #2 WAS SLOW ON APCH, DISTANCE LESSENED, #3 ANNOUNCED GOING AROUND, THEN CLRED TO LAND RWY 25R. RECOMMEND: ALWAYS ADVISE ATC IF NEW TO ARPT. ENSURE RADIO PROBS UNDERSTOOD, GAR EARLY.
