Narrative:

While taxiing into ramp area at yyz, crew was met approaching the gate with station line marshalls, consisting of 2 wingmen and 1 guideman. As aircraft was directed into gate by the guideman, several pieces of ground support equipment were present in the vicinity of the gate, but non appeared to be positioned inside of the painted ground safety lines. Aircraft was established on the centerline, and the captain continuously received the move forward signal from the guideman. At approximately 5 ft from the jetbridge stopping position, the guideman gave the stop signal with his wands, and the aircraft was promptly brought to a stop. After the aircraft stopped crew noted much confusion among ground personnel and further analysis revealed that the aircraft made contact with a piece of ground equipment prior to receiving the stop signal.
