Narrative:
We were cleared from sjo via the ramon depart radon transition climb to 12000 ft. Sjo was using the ILS runway 7 circle to land runway 25 and taking off opposite direction runway 25. The tower cleared us for takeoff runway 25 and I asked if I could fly straight out to avoid WX near ramon. The tower said, 'ok with me and switch to departure and ask them.' we switched to departure and asked them for a deviation. The controller asked us to turn regardless of WX, which we then did. We saw the inbound traffic on TCASII as well as visually. We passed the traffic about 2 mi north and 1000 ft above. The departure controller was very concerned that the tower had not advised us of the opposite direction traffic.

Title: B757 ON RAMON DEPART RADON TRANSITION REQUESTED DEV FROM WX TO THE TWR. OK'D BUT CHK WITH DEP CTLR. DEP CTLR UPSET TWR HAD NOT ADVISED OF OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC AND REQUESTED ACFT TURN REGARDLESS OF WX. SAW TFC ON TCASII AND VISUALLY AT 2 MI AND PASSED 1000 FT ABOVE.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FROM SJO VIA THE RAMON DEPART RADON TRANSITION CLB TO 12000 FT. SJO WAS USING THE ILS RWY 7 CIRCLE TO LAND RWY 25 AND TAKING OFF OPPOSITE DIRECTION RWY 25. THE TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF RWY 25 AND I ASKED IF I COULD FLY STRAIGHT OUT TO AVOID WX NEAR RAMON. THE TWR SAID, 'OK WITH ME AND SWITCH TO DEP AND ASK THEM.' WE SWITCHED TO DEP AND ASKED THEM FOR A DEV. THE CTLR ASKED US TO TURN REGARDLESS OF WX, WHICH WE THEN DID. WE SAW THE INBOUND TFC ON TCASII AS WELL AS VISUALLY. WE PASSED THE TFC ABOUT 2 MI N AND 1000 FT ABOVE. THE DEP CTLR WAS VERY CONCERNED THAT THE TWR HAD NOT ADVISED US OF THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC.
