Narrative:
While flying an approach at 7b9 runway 1, the aircraft touched down in the overrun area before the beginning of the runway. The main gear touched down first followed by the nosewheel. The aircraft nosewheel collapsed causing the nose to fall. The aircraft slid approximately 400 ft to a stop, remaining on the runway. The aircraft did not seem to touch down hard enough to cause the nose gear to collapse. The approach to the runway was normal.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PA34 WAS LANDED SHORT ON OVERRUN AREA OF RWY 1 AND THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED, PROBABLY AS THE RESULT OF STRIKING A LIP ON THE END OF THE RWY.
Narrative: WHILE FLYING AN APCH AT 7B9 RWY 1, THE ACFT TOUCHED DOWN IN THE OVERRUN AREA BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE RWY. THE MAIN GEAR TOUCHED DOWN FIRST FOLLOWED BY THE NOSEWHEEL. THE ACFT NOSEWHEEL COLLAPSED CAUSING THE NOSE TO FALL. THE ACFT SLID APPROX 400 FT TO A STOP, REMAINING ON THE RWY. THE ACFT DID NOT SEEM TO TOUCH DOWN HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE. THE APCH TO THE RWY WAS NORMAL.
