Narrative:
While on a EMS flight from abc hospital to bcd hospital at 1700 ft MSL, I saw a shadow of an airplane. I was looking to my right and high for possible traffic, when my paramedic called out 'captain! Captain!' I returned my scan to the front to see a mooney approaching at a high rate of speed closing from my 1 O'clock level. I climbed and turned approximately 15 degrees right. Good CRM from our paramedic. We reviewed using clock position. He said it happened too suddenly to recall correct terminology. This is a high traffic area (a pretty sunday afternoon over a VOR) and I should have briefed my crew as to the possibility of traffic. Would very much like to see TCASII in our cockpit. I have flown with TCASII before and have read of its great service. The price needs to come down to small operator's level.
