Narrative:

Altitude clearance was for 9000 ft on a 170 degree heading after takeoff from abq. Going through 8000 ft, a TCASII advisory and ATC TA of traffic in our 10 O'clock high position distraction us from the leveloff at 9000 ft and we eventually hit 9500 ft before returning to 9000 ft. The first officer was hand flying at the time. No actual traffic conflict occurred. Supplemental information from acn 368201: departure called out traffic at our 11 O'clock. While looking for the traffic and resetting the altimeter the first officer went to an altitude of 9600 ft.
