Narrative:

Location: mci ramp. Departed gate on time for ord, received 1 hour ATC delay. At XY30 received another 1 hour delay, ord down to 1 runway for lndgs and my delay was only 1 hour for next update and no end in sight. Went back to gate xx for gas and asked for an air cart for air- conditioning. Mci closes due to WX, tower evacuate/evacuations all personnel. Send my ground crew away until better WX. At XZ20 asked for my ground crew again for engine start. They showed up with the station manager. I must be in good hands. Told power back with tail north my left. Did so very slowly due to lots of work going on near ramp. Turned tail as instructed and struck company plane on gate ww tail to tail. Received departure salute with no mention of this. We were using hand signals at the time due to lightning in area. Unable to turn aircraft onto taxiway, trying to coordinate with ground for a taxi and 180 degree turn when asked to call company. Told that aircraft may have hit another plane during pwrback. Asked to taxi back to gate bb for aircraft swap at cc. Wanted to use closest gate xb but no security now at airport and if I deplaned there people could not re-enter terminal. Moved plane to gate bb and told people we were experiencing a maintenance problem. Everything went smoothly from then on. Ramp told me later that they were 5 people short and they still pulled this off relatively well so to speak. They really did an excellent job other than the fact that they were to have used a tug since an aircraft was on gate ww. Shut down aircraft and made necessary logbook entry.
