Narrative:
On climb through 28600 ft, felt a bump similar to a shifting cargo bin. All system normal, visual check of cabin and wings normal with a possible slight vibration in mid- cabin area. With no other indications we went to destination (stl) at 29000/28000 ft and reduced speed. Used a slow speed descent (no speed brakes) and conservative speeds for landing confign. No other abnormalities felt. Configured east of mississippi river and on straight-in final to stl runway 30L. At no time did we overfly city of st louis. After landing we discovered the l-hand main gear strut fairing was missing and it was later reported to have fallen on a city street in st louis. It would have to sail into the wind approximately 4-5 mi to get to that point. (Wind 270-300 degree at 15 KTS.)
