Narrative:
In cruise FL310 had about 4 compressor stalls, partially reduced power to troubleshoot problem and in a few mins we had another 3-4 compressor stalls. Reduced power to idle and made a precautionary landing in jan. No emergency was declared because both engines were running.

Title: FLC OF A B737 DIVERTED TO LAND AFTER REDUCING THE PWR ON 1 ENG TO AN IDLE DUE TO FREQUENT COMPRESSOR STALLS AT CRUISE PWR.
Narrative: IN CRUISE FL310 HAD ABOUT 4 COMPRESSOR STALLS, PARTIALLY REDUCED PWR TO TROUBLESHOOT PROB AND IN A FEW MINS WE HAD ANOTHER 3-4 COMPRESSOR STALLS. REDUCED PWR TO IDLE AND MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LNDG IN JAN. NO EMER WAS DECLARED BECAUSE BOTH ENGS WERE RUNNING.
