Narrative:
We were cleared to standard taxi runway 35L. After we had transitioned from txwys K to left at K10, ground control informed us that instead of turning onto taxiway left we should have remained on taxiway K. Referring to my flight manual, I realized that I had unintentionally read to the captain the routing for runway 35L intersection eq rather than the full length of runway 35L. The error which led to this occurrence was my reading the taxi procedure for runway 35L intersection eq instead of runway 35L. Taking the time to ensure that I'm reading the correct procedure will prevent this from happening again in the future.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF DC9 READS WRONG TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND TURNS ON WRONG TXWY.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO STANDARD TAXI RWY 35L. AFTER WE HAD TRANSITIONED FROM TXWYS K TO L AT K10, GND CTL INFORMED US THAT INSTEAD OF TURNING ONTO TXWY L WE SHOULD HAVE REMAINED ON TXWY K. REFERRING TO MY FLT MANUAL, I REALIZED THAT I HAD UNINTENTIONALLY READ TO THE CAPT THE ROUTING FOR RWY 35L INTXN EQ RATHER THAN THE FULL LENGTH OF RWY 35L. THE ERROR WHICH LED TO THIS OCCURRENCE WAS MY READING THE TAXI PROC FOR RWY 35L INTXN EQ INSTEAD OF RWY 35L. TAKING THE TIME TO ENSURE THAT I'M READING THE CORRECT PROC WILL PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
