Narrative:
On flight from jfk to cph, approximately 1 hour after departure, the right hydraulic reservoir quantity of fluid was lost, due to failure of pump housing. After conferring with the company. Flight control directed us to return to departure point. All abnormal checklists were performed. The company later requested we dump fuel to lower landing weight so brake energy limitations would not hinder a possible quick turnaround. Fuel was dumped while coordinating with ZBW. With center fuel tank emptied, aircraft still landed approximately 20000 pounds over maximum landing weight. Logbook entries were made concerning hydraulic failure but no specific entry to being overweight which I believe requires certain maintenance inspections. I feel part of the reason for the logbook oversight was due to: 1) flight operations and crew scheduling immediately wanting to know our crew duty time position and will we be willing to extend duty time to depart with this aircraft or another aircraft to destination versus canceling. 2) flight attendants in cockpit expressing their thoughts concerning remaining duty time. 3) gate agents and local operations people concerned about operating or canceling the flight. 4) maintenance quick decision to swap aircraft and depart as quickly as possible due to duty time limitations. Quite a few distrs, along with a new captain getting his IOE. When I realized the oversight, I contacted the jfk chief pilot. He advised me he would contact maintenance with the information. In summary: don't let outside people distract you from what needs to be done!

Title: B767ER HAD LOSS OF HYD FLUID FROM R SYS. RETURNED TO JFK AND WAS ASKED BY COMPANY TO DUMP FUEL TO LNDG WT. DUMPED ALL CTR TANK FUEL BUT WAS STILL 20000 LBS OVER GROSS WHEN LNDG. FAILED TO WRITE UP THE OVERWT LNDG.
Narrative: ON FLT FROM JFK TO CPH, APPROX 1 HR AFTER DEP, THE R HYD RESERVOIR QUANTITY OF FLUID WAS LOST, DUE TO FAILURE OF PUMP HOUSING. AFTER CONFERRING WITH THE COMPANY. FLT CTL DIRECTED US TO RETURN TO DEP POINT. ALL ABNORMAL CHKLISTS WERE PERFORMED. THE COMPANY LATER REQUESTED WE DUMP FUEL TO LOWER LNDG WT SO BRAKE ENERGY LIMITATIONS WOULD NOT HINDER A POSSIBLE QUICK TURNAROUND. FUEL WAS DUMPED WHILE COORDINATING WITH ZBW. WITH CTR FUEL TANK EMPTIED, ACFT STILL LANDED APPROX 20000 LBS OVER MAX LNDG WT. LOGBOOK ENTRIES WERE MADE CONCERNING HYD FAILURE BUT NO SPECIFIC ENTRY TO BEING OVERWT WHICH I BELIEVE REQUIRES CERTAIN MAINT INSPECTIONS. I FEEL PART OF THE REASON FOR THE LOGBOOK OVERSIGHT WAS DUE TO: 1) FLT OPS AND CREW SCHEDULING IMMEDIATELY WANTING TO KNOW OUR CREW DUTY TIME POS AND WILL WE BE WILLING TO EXTEND DUTY TIME TO DEPART WITH THIS ACFT OR ANOTHER ACFT TO DEST VERSUS CANCELING. 2) FLT ATTENDANTS IN COCKPIT EXPRESSING THEIR THOUGHTS CONCERNING REMAINING DUTY TIME. 3) GATE AGENTS AND LCL OPS PEOPLE CONCERNED ABOUT OPERATING OR CANCELING THE FLT. 4) MAINT QUICK DECISION TO SWAP ACFT AND DEPART AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE DUE TO DUTY TIME LIMITATIONS. QUITE A FEW DISTRS, ALONG WITH A NEW CAPT GETTING HIS IOE. WHEN I REALIZED THE OVERSIGHT, I CONTACTED THE JFK CHIEF PLT. HE ADVISED ME HE WOULD CONTACT MAINT WITH THE INFO. IN SUMMARY: DON'T LET OUTSIDE PEOPLE DISTRACT YOU FROM WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE!
