Narrative:
We were given our IFR clearance by flagstaff tower. It gave us a restr of crossing 7 mi south of the airport at or above 12000 ft. Passing 10000 ft I, as the PNF, continued our climb checklist. We were about 3 DME from the field. My first officer still had a good climb rate and we looked like we would have no problem meeting the restr. I took my attention away to continue the climb check. I had just returned from calling our company frequency and I got a radar contact from center. They reported us at 11700 ft at 8.5 mi south of the field. I confirmed that was our position. And then he asked me if we were given the restr. I said yes. My first officer had thought the restr was 11000 ft so once he reached 11000 ft he reduced the rate of climb to increase our airspeed. I feel I could have prevented the situation if I had waited until we had gotten past 12000 ft to finish the checklist.

Title: FLC OF A COMMUTER ACR FAIL TO MAKE THE ALT XING RESTR GIVEN THEM PRIOR TO DEP FROM FLG, AZ. PIC WAS BUSY DOING OTHER TASKS INSTEAD OF MONITORING THE FO, PF.
Narrative: WE WERE GIVEN OUR IFR CLRNC BY FLAGSTAFF TWR. IT GAVE US A RESTR OF XING 7 MI S OF THE ARPT AT OR ABOVE 12000 FT. PASSING 10000 FT I, AS THE PNF, CONTINUED OUR CLB CHKLIST. WE WERE ABOUT 3 DME FROM THE FIELD. MY FO STILL HAD A GOOD CLB RATE AND WE LOOKED LIKE WE WOULD HAVE NO PROB MEETING THE RESTR. I TOOK MY ATTN AWAY TO CONTINUE THE CLB CHK. I HAD JUST RETURNED FROM CALLING OUR COMPANY FREQ AND I GOT A RADAR CONTACT FROM CTR. THEY RPTED US AT 11700 FT AT 8.5 MI S OF THE FIELD. I CONFIRMED THAT WAS OUR POS. AND THEN HE ASKED ME IF WE WERE GIVEN THE RESTR. I SAID YES. MY FO HAD THOUGHT THE RESTR WAS 11000 FT SO ONCE HE REACHED 11000 FT HE REDUCED THE RATE OF CLB TO INCREASE OUR AIRSPD. I FEEL I COULD HAVE PREVENTED THE SIT IF I HAD WAITED UNTIL WE HAD GOTTEN PAST 12000 FT TO FINISH THE CHKLIST.
