Narrative:
While taxiing to the FBO at ewr, we were cleared to taxiway P to hold short of taxiway west. Then we were cleared to cross runway 11/29. I used taxiway west to cross runway 11/29 which also crossed runway 4L/22R without a clearance. Better use of the runway diagram and better instructions by ATC could have avoided the problem. Supplemental information from acn 370989: I read back the wrong directions, but a clarification was not made. I think we should have questioned crossing runway 22R before doing it. Also, ground control should have asked us or questioned us to stop or hold our position.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ATX FLC IN AN LTT FREIGHTER CROSS AN ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT AUTH. THE FLC COMPLAIN THAT WHILE THEY MISUNDERSTOOD THE CLRNC, THE CTLR SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE SPECIFIC AND SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THEM.
Narrative: WHILE TAXIING TO THE FBO AT EWR, WE WERE CLRED TO TXWY P TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY W. THEN WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 11/29. I USED TXWY W TO CROSS RWY 11/29 WHICH ALSO CROSSED RWY 4L/22R WITHOUT A CLRNC. BETTER USE OF THE RWY DIAGRAM AND BETTER INSTRUCTIONS BY ATC COULD HAVE AVOIDED THE PROB. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 370989: I READ BACK THE WRONG DIRECTIONS, BUT A CLARIFICATION WAS NOT MADE. I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED XING RWY 22R BEFORE DOING IT. ALSO, GND CTL SHOULD HAVE ASKED US OR QUESTIONED US TO STOP OR HOLD OUR POS.
