Narrative:
Airplane was brought over from maintenance hangar after receiving its inspection in the morning. During the log acceptance I noted an error and went in to correct. During this time, first officer noted error in low volts test. More confusion ensued as our junior a&P's were confused as to what it should do. I explained. It was fixed. In the confusion, I missed the life preservers on the acceptance. In ord I remembered one was past due. On inspection by a&P they said no, it's good! I said no, it says 'prior to june.' they thought it meant up to the end of june. I don't mind the mistake but to argue plain english and say that's not what it means, really shows how they believe pilots are wrong all of the time and don't know what's going on except when the planes are in the air.

Title: FLC OF A BAE ATP HAS PROB WITH MAINT PERSONNEL REGARDING LOGBOOK ERROR AND ERROR IN LOW VOLTAGE TEST. WHILE CORRECTING THESE ITEMS THERE WAS DISCUSSION REGARDING THE PAST DUE INSPECTION OF LIFE PRESERVERS. MAINT BELIEVED THAT 'PRIOR TO JUNE' MEANT THEY WERE GOOD UNTIL THE END OF JUNE. CAPT DID NOT AGREE.
