Narrative:
Roll system disconnected on touchdown. Plane ferried to maintenance base. Bushings in roll disconnect lever assembly worn beyond limits. Engineering instructed and authority/authorized installation of unsvcable bushings out of another lever assembly which were out of limits, but had less wear than the original bushings. Also, to paint the shaft to take up excess clearance between the bushings and the shaft. Installation of new bushings was deferred for 70 hours. This system has had previous failures on dash 8's worldwide and is pending an airworthiness directive for this problem.
