Narrative:
While approaching ile we received a TCASII alert and warning. We could not visually acquire the other aircraft so we took evasive action. We saw and avoided the other aircraft by 200 ft vertically and 500 ft horizontally. This is an uncontrolled field that is served by several regional airlines. The problem was compounded because grey approach had told us to monitor unicom and stopped giving us radar advisories. Although we were still listening to him, he didn't warn us of the other aircraft because he didn't think we were on his frequency anymore. Afterwards he told us he didn't know we had 2 radios and could monitor him so he didn't try to warn us. This airspace/airport is a midair waiting to happen and this could possibly be prevented if the people at grey approach were a little more 'aware.'
