Narrative:
A skydiver struck a parked truck during his landing and was severely injured. There has been all kinds of rumors concerning this accident. I felt that I should relay the actual data while it is still fresh on my memory. The rumors have concerned both the wind conditions and cloud coverage. On the day of the incident, the wind remained at 12-15 KTS throughout the day, primarily from the southeast (120-150 degrees). The sky was clear at my home at AB00. By AB15 (at the airport) we had a solid ceiling (low) so we postponed operations. I returned home and was called at AD30 to come to the airport. The ceiling had become broken to scattered by that time. We flew 5 loads on jun/xa/97 in various stages of cloud cover from broken to scattered. Amarillo approach control called me at one point to get a PIREP on cloud coverage to provide an eastbound VFR pilot with current coverage of clouds. Most of the day consisted of solid cloud coverage east of amarillo and clear of clouds west of amarillo. The broken to scattered conditions occurred directly over the city of amarillo.

Title: SKYDIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN HE CAME IN CONTACT WITH A TRUCK IN THE LNDG AREA. RPTR, THE PF, STATED THE WX CONDITIONS WERE SATISFACTORY FOR THE JUMP. RPTR APPEARED TO BE DEFENSIVE IN HIS POS OF CLOUD COVER AND SURFACE WINDS.
Narrative: A SKYDIVER STRUCK A PARKED TRUCK DURING HIS LNDG AND WAS SEVERELY INJURED. ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT, THE WIND REMAINED AT 12-15 KTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY, PRIMARILY FROM THE SE (120-150 DEGS). THE SKY WAS CLR AT MY HOME AT AB00. BY AB15 (AT THE ARPT) WE HAD A SOLID CEILING (LOW) SO WE POSTPONED OPS. I RETURNED HOME AND WAS CALLED AT AD30 TO COME TO THE ARPT. THE CEILING HAD BECOME BROKEN TO SCATTERED BY THAT TIME. WE FLEW 5 LOADS ON JUN/XA/97 IN VARIOUS STAGES OF CLOUD COVER FROM BROKEN TO SCATTERED. AMARILLO APCH CTL CALLED ME AT ONE POINT TO GET A PIREP ON CLOUD COVERAGE TO PROVIDE AN EBOUND VFR PLT WITH CURRENT COVERAGE OF CLOUDS. MOST OF THE DAY CONSISTED OF SOLID CLOUD COVERAGE E OF AMARILLO AND CLR OF CLOUDS W OF AMARILLO. THE BROKEN TO SCATTERED CONDITIONS OCCURRED DIRECTLY OVER THE CITY OF AMARILLO.
