Narrative:
Upon arrival at ict, I observed 2 agents struggling with a large wheel chair. When they finally got it up the jetway stairs they informed me of a large battery spill in the forward cargo bin. Apparently the wheel chair was loaded in st louis on its side with the battery still attached and the battery charger was placed in the battery carrying box, thus allowing the spillage of nearly the entire contents of battery acid. Better inspection by ground personnel and more careful handling of this type of battery would have prevented this problem from occurring.
