Narrative:
On approach to runway 33, which is an uphill, uphill runway (approximately 3 degrees) at about 50 ft AGL I believe we experienced wind shear which caused an accelerated rate of descent. At this time I decided to execute a go around. I retracted gear, flaps and attempted go around. It was clear to me at this point that the aircraft was not going to obtain adequate flying speed so I decided to put the aircraft down on the remaining runway. I feel this incident may not have happened had unicom given us the active runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF A PIPER AERO STAR 601, PA60, FAILED IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE A GAR DURING A LONG LNDG RESULTING IN LNDG WITH THE GEAR UP. ACFT DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE UNDER SKIN, PROPS AND ENGS RESULTING IN A CLASSIFICATION OF AN ACFT INCIDENT.
Narrative: ON APCH TO RWY 33, WHICH IS AN UPHILL, UPHILL RWY (APPROX 3 DEGS) AT ABOUT 50 FT AGL I BELIEVE WE EXPERIENCED WIND SHEAR WHICH CAUSED AN ACCELERATED RATE OF DSCNT. AT THIS TIME I DECIDED TO EXECUTE A GAR. I RETRACTED GEAR, FLAPS AND ATTEMPTED GAR. IT WAS CLR TO ME AT THIS POINT THAT THE ACFT WAS NOT GOING TO OBTAIN ADEQUATE FLYING SPD SO I DECIDED TO PUT THE ACFT DOWN ON THE REMAINING RWY. I FEEL THIS INCIDENT MAY NOT HAVE HAPPENED HAD UNICOM GIVEN US THE ACTIVE RWY.
