Narrative:

Was cleared for visual approach runway 25L. About 5 mi out, tower operator cleared us to land runway 25R. First officer read back cleared to land runway 25R and operator either said roger or affirm, cleared to land runway 25R. I, PF, slid over to right side while first officer put runway 25R into FMC. At about 1200-1000 ft, tower cleared other aircraft into position on runway 25R. First officer called tower and said 'xyz is cleared to land runway 25R.' tower controller came back and said 'no, xyz, you're cleared to land runway 25L.' we then slid back to left and landed runway 25L. Tapes confirm this event. Although a miscom did occur in this human arena, because of vigilance on both pilots' and tower's part, nothing serious came of this event. However, when a tower operator is working a common left/right runway, I feel this can easily happen, a misstatement of left or right. Extreme vigilance is a must. It taught me a lesson, and I'm sure the tower controller also!

Title: DURING SHORT FINAL TO THE R PARALLEL RWY, TWR CTLR PUTS ANOTHER ACFT IN POS TO HOLD CAUSING THE FO OF A B757 TO STATE THAT THEY HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND. THE CTLR SWITCHED THEM TO THE L RWY AND THE TWR TAPES SUBSEQUENTLY PROVED THAT THE FLC HAD BEEN CORRECT IN THEIR INTERP OF THEIR CLRNC.

Narrative: WAS CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH RWY 25L. ABOUT 5 MI OUT, TWR OPERATOR CLRED US TO LAND RWY 25R. FO READ BACK CLRED TO LAND RWY 25R AND OPERATOR EITHER SAID ROGER OR AFFIRM, CLRED TO LAND RWY 25R. I, PF, SLID OVER TO R SIDE WHILE FO PUT RWY 25R INTO FMC. AT ABOUT 1200-1000 FT, TWR CLRED OTHER ACFT INTO POS ON RWY 25R. FO CALLED TWR AND SAID 'XYZ IS CLRED TO LAND RWY 25R.' TWR CTLR CAME BACK AND SAID 'NO, XYZ, YOU'RE CLRED TO LAND RWY 25L.' WE THEN SLID BACK TO L AND LANDED RWY 25L. TAPES CONFIRM THIS EVENT. ALTHOUGH A MISCOM DID OCCUR IN THIS HUMAN ARENA, BECAUSE OF VIGILANCE ON BOTH PLTS' AND TWR'S PART, NOTHING SERIOUS CAME OF THIS EVENT. HOWEVER, WHEN A TWR OPERATOR IS WORKING A COMMON L/R RWY, I FEEL THIS CAN EASILY HAPPEN, A MISSTATEMENT OF L OR R. EXTREME VIGILANCE IS A MUST. IT TAUGHT ME A LESSON, AND I'M SURE THE TWR CTLR ALSO!
