Narrative:

The incident occurred at XA00 idaho time. We overflew yellow pine/johnson creek (3u2) altitude 4933 ft at 8000 ft in our turbo-pwred C182 to determine wind direction from the windsock. We were too high to see the windsock. We followed the recommendations in the flight guide for the western united states and another guide book by xyz. Both books recommended landing on runway 17 and takeoff on runway 35. We landed on runway 17 and was told later we had a 17 KT tailwind. We bounced and attempted a go around. I pushed the throttle in quickly and the engine 'popped' resulting in a propeller strike.
