Narrative:
I was to departure brainerd airport and head northwest to groton. Due to FARS, a flight plan is not required. It was a 37 NM flight down to groton airport. On the way down, it was windy and bumpy. One factor I should have considered with a greater depth. It was the wind that was pushing me off course. I soon realized that I was not at groton. I was at providence. Once passed to providence, they helped me out by telling me where I was at. Returning back knowing I was lost, I was passed to bradley. They gave me headings to fly. Once around bradley, I knew where I was. I should have been more familiar with some of the cities that these airports have. In my situation, consider factors that will affect your flight path and prevent them from becoming your downfall. Willing to take more flight instruction.
