Narrative:
Departing ewr on the arthur kill one departure, I missed the note that said, 'lanna departure intercept the sbj R-100 thence.' contributing factors: 1) pictorial showed radar vector symbol after 250 degree heading. 2) new procedure as of jul 1997. 3) prior procedure was radar vector only. 4) mild fatigue -- short layover, less than 6 hours sleep for a XA15 pickup. 5) complacency -- day 4 of a 4 day trip. Recommendations: 1) place number or identing symbol next to radar vector symbol. 2) new procedures in bold print. 3) keep procedure simple. 4) read the fine print!
