Narrative:
I am a company designated sic in a bell helicopter. During the period jul/xa-xe/97, I flew as a designated PIC in a 2 pilot crew. This is a normal procedure for our company to place 2 sic's in a cockpit during day VFR conditions, with the senior sic being designated as the PIC. My last far part 135 check ride and instrument competency check, in accordance with far 61.57(east)(2), was on oct/xx/97. This was performed in fort worth, tx, at a contract training facility. Upon talking to a company check airman, I found out that the contract training facility simulator rides did not meet the requirements of far 135.299. I received a part 135.299 ride the next day, jul/yy/97. Now that I understand the limitations of the flight safety simulator ride, I will keep track of my due dates. I have suggested to our company scheduling, also maintain currency record of all pilots.
