Narrative:

Prior to marcs we were told to fly heading 290 degrees at end of arrival procedure. At marcs we did not make the left turn exactly as depicted because there was a large cloud on centerline. We deviated slightly west of course (perhaps 2 mi). We were unable to tell controller because of radio chatter. He gave us a heading and thought we had mistakenly already turned 290 degrees. By that time we could and did turn to his heading of 210 degrees for traffic. We were around the build-up and starting our turn when he called. I do not think any loss of separation occurred.
