Narrative:

Damage to door 2L during pushback with door opened and jetway at the aircraft. I checked that all door lights were out. At approximately the same time the chief purser informed me that the cabin preparation was complete and that all passenger were seated. The before pushback checklist was completed. Pushback clearance was received and relayed to the tug driver. Brakes were released and #1 and #4 air pumps were switched to automatic. As I was turning off packs for engine start I saw the door 2L open light on. I called out I have a door light. At about the same time the tug driver stopped the pushback and commanded the brakes set. The aircraft had moved only 3-4 ft from its starting position.
