Narrative:
On takeoff from ewr we were assigned 'arthur kill one' departure. We made heading change from 190 degrees to 250 degrees at 2.3 DME. On this heading we overshot sbj 100 degree radial by 1- 2 mi. We turned back on course after instructions by new york departure control. Instructions and pictorial in charts are easily missed for this departure.
