Narrative:
Coming into the target area of the race, I missed the first of 2 targets. I heated to maintain altitude for the second target pole. I then vented to make the target, my basket made contact with the ground. The burners gimbaled, and flame came into contact with the skirt of the envelope. I maintained control, and ascended according to the waiver guidelines, and flew on to an appropriate landing spot. My aircraft was inspected by a certified balloon repair person, and was still airworthy. I opted not to fly the next morning until repairs could be made that afternoon. Repairs were made, and I flew that evening.

Title: A BALLOONIST IN A CAMERON 065 HAS THE FLAME TOUCH THE SKIRT OF THE BALLOON'S ENVELOPE DURING A MANEUVERING EXERCISE AT A HOT AIR BALLOON RACE. THE DAMAGE WAS MINOR AND WAS INSPECTED AND REPAIRED PRIOR TO THE NEXT FLT.
