Narrative:
Upon review of logbook I noticed that the mrd (maintenance release document) was not current. I called maintenance and he assured me that it was ok at a non maintenance station. After en route I realized that it was not current and I should have requested a new one be sent by whatever means.

Title: FLC OF MLG IS ASSURED BY MAINT PERSONNEL THAT AN EXPIRED MAINT RELEASE DOCUMENT IS OK BUT REALIZES AFTER AIRBORNE THAT IT IS NOT OK.
Narrative: UPON REVIEW OF LOGBOOK I NOTICED THAT THE MRD (MAINT RELEASE DOCUMENT) WAS NOT CURRENT. I CALLED MAINT AND HE ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS OK AT A NON MAINT STATION. AFTER ENRTE I REALIZED THAT IT WAS NOT CURRENT AND I SHOULD HAVE REQUESTED A NEW ONE BE SENT BY WHATEVER MEANS.
