Narrative:
The approach controller taking us into mke left us too high for a standard approach scenario. When finally cleared lower, the captain nosed the aircraft over in order to get the aircraft in a better position for the approach. Passing 10000 ft, I immediately informed him of his excess speed (approximately 285-290 KTS), at which point he immediately began to slow. But, due to our descent rate, we were at approximately 9500 ft before reaching 250 KTS.

Title: AN ARR WDB FREIGHTER EXCEEDS THE 250 KT SPD LIMIT UNDER 10000 FT WHEN CAPT NOSES ACFT OVER FOR RAPID DSCNT. FLC WAS CONCERNED THAT THEY MIGHT BE HIGH FOR THE APCH TO MKE.
Narrative: THE APCH CTLR TAKING US INTO MKE LEFT US TOO HIGH FOR A STANDARD APCH SCENARIO. WHEN FINALLY CLRED LOWER, THE CAPT NOSED THE ACFT OVER IN ORDER TO GET THE ACFT IN A BETTER POS FOR THE APCH. PASSING 10000 FT, I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED HIM OF HIS EXCESS SPD (APPROX 285-290 KTS), AT WHICH POINT HE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO SLOW. BUT, DUE TO OUR DSCNT RATE, WE WERE AT APPROX 9500 FT BEFORE REACHING 250 KTS.
