Narrative:
I was flying approach in IMC to remain current. I realized I had the wrong approach plate out. I must have already been drifting off altitude. I reached down to get the right approach plate. When I looked back up, I was 200 ft too high. Corrective actions: have correct plates easily available. Have plane trimmed so it didn't drift off altitude.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL CLBED ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT DURING AN APCH PROC DUE TO A DISTR TO REACH FOR THE CORRECT APCH CHART.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING APCH IN IMC TO REMAIN CURRENT. I REALIZED I HAD THE WRONG APCH PLATE OUT. I MUST HAVE ALREADY BEEN DRIFTING OFF ALT. I REACHED DOWN TO GET THE RIGHT APCH PLATE. WHEN I LOOKED BACK UP, I WAS 200 FT TOO HIGH. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: HAVE CORRECT PLATES EASILY AVAILABLE. HAVE PLANE TRIMMED SO IT DIDN'T DRIFT OFF ALT.
