Narrative:
Had received a climb clearance from 9000 ft MSL to 16000 ft MSL with direct to mht from bos departure. Passing 13500 ft MSL, got a TCASII warning to descend. Disconnected autoplt and autothrust, descended through 11000 ft MSL, and leveled at 10500 MSL when TCASII indicated leveloff ok. Observed a twin engine cessna jet citation pass over aircraft at something less than 1000 ft separation. Indicated 600 ft difference on TCASII. Informed bos departure control of occurrence and continued climb to 16000 ft MSL and on to dtw. Apparently a controller misunderstanding. But not known whose. TCASII has been a lifesaver once again. All aircraft flying in controled corridors should have these type of xponders for effective avoidance. The cessna apparently didn't have TCASII or was turned off as it was apparent he continued descent with us.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: NMAC. FLC OF AN A320 AIRBUS STOPPED CLB AND DSNDED IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA OF A CESSNA CITATION DSNDING DURING DEP CLB.
Narrative: HAD RECEIVED A CLB CLRNC FROM 9000 FT MSL TO 16000 FT MSL WITH DIRECT TO MHT FROM BOS DEP. PASSING 13500 FT MSL, GOT A TCASII WARNING TO DSND. DISCONNECTED AUTOPLT AND AUTOTHRUST, DSNDED THROUGH 11000 FT MSL, AND LEVELED AT 10500 MSL WHEN TCASII INDICATED LEVELOFF OK. OBSERVED A TWIN ENG CESSNA JET CITATION PASS OVER ACFT AT SOMETHING LESS THAN 1000 FT SEPARATION. INDICATED 600 FT DIFFERENCE ON TCASII. INFORMED BOS DEP CTL OF OCCURRENCE AND CONTINUED CLB TO 16000 FT MSL AND ON TO DTW. APPARENTLY A CTLR MISUNDERSTANDING. BUT NOT KNOWN WHOSE. TCASII HAS BEEN A LIFESAVER ONCE AGAIN. ALL ACFT FLYING IN CTLED CORRIDORS SHOULD HAVE THESE TYPE OF XPONDERS FOR EFFECTIVE AVOIDANCE. THE CESSNA APPARENTLY DIDN'T HAVE TCASII OR WAS TURNED OFF AS IT WAS APPARENT HE CONTINUED DSCNT WITH US.
